What Should I Read After Heir to the Empire March 06, 2022 Post a Comment Hi! I recently started reading the Thrawn trilogy as a style to "enter" the expanded universe of Star Wars. I am now finishing the last volume in the serial and was wondering if anyone has whatever tips book (or comic) to continue the story most the indicate where it stopped. I've heard a lot about the twins Solo older but could not find exactly what book it is shown or if there is some chronologically before that. It is so much content that is kind of confusing Anyhow, any tip is welcome and thanks! ps.: I am new in the forum and I'one thousand Brazilian, and so I repent for whatsoever wrong give-and-take or wrong activity I advise: Jump dorsum a few years and read Ten-Wing 1-vii, then X-Wing 8, then I,Jedi. Grab the collections Tales from the Empire and Tales from the New Republic. Read Hand of Thrawn then Survivor's Quest / Outbound Flight Follow up with Allegiance / Choices of 1 jump dorsum and and so, catch the 20th Anniversary Edition of HTTE and the circle is complete! Oh and X-Wing 9, don't forget that one. Wow that was fast! Thanks for the tips, I recollect I'll showtime with the x-wing series then If you find that X-Fly ane-4 are not to your liking, feel free to skip directly to #five, Wraith Squadron. You won't miss a thing. Sh-She won't get a scratch! Haha I'll remember that My biggest problem will even exist having these books, I found that these books not released hither in Brazil. :c The manner will be reading anything I find and look to do the shopping on my trip to the United States. ^^ i advise that y'all dorsum upward to Shadows of the Empire to go the whole story on Luke's journey as a true jedi. Courtship of Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor, and and then hit The Jedi Academy Trilogy I would reccomend I Jedi and the Hand of Thrawn Trilogy as books to read. Of form I'k merely talking from personal preference, merely must reads from the mail-ROTJ-European union after the Thrawn-trilogy are: - DarkEmpire, - I, Jedi (looks into the establishing of the Jedi-Academy and saves you from reading the JAT), - BlackFleet-trilogy (Before the Storm / Shield of Lies / Tyrant'southward Exam), - CorelliaTrilogy (Ambush at Corellia / Assail at Selonia / Showdown at Centerpoint), - Hand of Thrawn-duology (Spectres of the By / Visions of the Future), this duology brings closure to the Bantam Eu and the war with the empire. Bated from that, if you lot are interested in the classical trilogy-era, good reads are Aaron Allston'south X-Wing-novels, Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor, A.C.Crispin'S HanSolo-trilogy and Shadows of the Empire. Anything else written in that time-frame like Jedi Academy-trilogy, Crystal Star or the New Rebellion is a waste of paper. Later that, if you are still in the mood for SW, you tin start with the novels of the NewJediOrder. Unfortunately, subsequently that, the post-ROTJ-EU turns into crap. Utter crap. And so much crap, that you'd have to invent a new discussion for it. You'd better turn to novels of the Prequel-era. I greatly recommend the NJO serial later you lot go upwards on some archetype bantam novels to give you some historic perspective. Just don't look to be happy with mushc post NJO. To continue the story where it left off, I'd follow Jedi Ben's recommendations higher up- it gives you the works of the same author (Zahn) plus the textile by the authors that collaborated with his work the most (Stackpole, and past extension, Allston). Withal, I'd suggest a few tweaks: -The two "Tales From..." anthology books aren't necessary reads, but the main novellas in them by Zahn and Stackpole do flesh out some of the characters. They're expert reads, just non must-reads. -X-Wing 7, while completing the "Wraith Squadron" story arc of books five-7, leaves a meaning plotline lingering that is resolved in The Courtship of Princess Leia. The downside is that Courtship actually isn't that good (some of it's plotlines are good, but Han in particular has awful label). Withal, it does help bring events, more or less, up to simply before where the Thrawn Trilogy begins. -You lot'll probably desire to read the Night Empire comic series (or at least Dark Empire i. ii isn't bad but kinda goes downwardly loma later on that) after X-Wing 8 just before I, Jedi and X-Wing nine. Some meaning events occur in that serial that are difficult to overlook. I... cannot for the life of me figure out what part of the trilogy that's from. What the hell is wrong with me? Come on, RotJ, when Han is saying good bye to Lando before boarding the shuttle Tydirium. Ahhhhhh that makes sense. I'yard ready for my stoning now. I'd recommend Truce at Bakura and Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. They're both set before TTT, simply IMO they're some of the best EU novels in full general. Aslo, squeamish to see other non-native-english-speakers hither I think there are quite a few not-native speakers here, aren't there? Ceiran is the only 1 I can think of off the top of my head. Nosotros have quite a few non-native speakers over at the Wook, too; virtually half of the "Wookieepedian of the Month" winners from the concluding year have been, including the current candidate, whose commencement language is Czech. What's my indicate? Uh... some cliched motivational statement most how Star Wars is universal? Anyway, I concord with Ben's suggestion of going back and reading the X-wing books. Don't wait ten years to read them like I did. There are quite a few, yes. Our current 181st host is, correct me if I'm wrong, Grey1, High german, or at least High german-speaking. We have a decent few Germans here, plus some folks from the Castilian-speaking world. I can think of some Finns, and I believe we have some other Scandinavians. I've besides seen French, and I want to say at to the lowest degree one Italian, I recall at least one Pole . . . information technology's a various crowd. And so, of course, nosotros have GrandAdmiralJello, whose first language is Latin. No Freudian slip of "a few decent Germans"? Yes, I think united states Germans like our nerdy franchise fandom stuff. Nosotros're besides probably the last country in which classic prog rock ("that radio-friendly single changed everything - suddenly women came to our concerts!") is nonetheless worshipped. Past the style, I wonder why I haven't asked the thread'due south question even so - plainly y'all should read the Jed Academy Trilogy. Historically, it was the next big story after Thrawn (you could squeeze Dark Empire between those two, but since it's a comic...); information technology sets upwards a lot of what's to come up and stay in afterward Eu (for example the Jedi Academy); and most importantly, whether you'll like Kevin J. Anderson'due south prose or not, yous currently have your very own group of people to talk over the books with! James Earl Jones isn't and so crawly, one time you've heard Heinz Petruo phonation Darth Vader. !? Ever hear about the Geordie Edit of Star Wars? Has the Emperor every bit voiced by Become Carter Caine! Dark Empire and Carmine Empire Howdy again! First, thanks for all the answers! I'm trying to do a "reading plan" based on what you are talking about and I came to this: - 10-Wing 5-8 - Night Empire 1.2 - I, Jedi - X-Wing ix - The Jedi Academy Trilogy I was very interested in other books yous mentioned but could not organize them in that sequence. Anyhow, I think I already have enough material to start at to the lowest degree. And it'southward prissy to know that Star Wars has so many fans around the world, although isn't equally popular here as in other countries, is something that anybody knows.
